What Is Monstrology?
Monstrology is the practice of taking the animus, or the essence, of a creature when you defeat it, using special spell modifiers. Where most people use Enchants on their hits for extra damage, we use Extracts. We can collect 3 Animus from a creature per battle. By purchasing Triple Animus Elixirs from the Crowns Shop for 150 Crowns, we can push that to 9 Animus each fight. |
When we collect enough animus from a creature, there are three types of items we can create: The Summon Minion, the Housing Guest, and the Expel Creature. For most mob creatures, a summon requires 10 Animus. A Housing Guest requires 20. An Expel requires 15. Boss Creatures require more animus: 20 for a summon, 30 for a housing guest. Bosses typically do not have Expel Creature items. |
Creature Summon Spells:Have you ever gone through a long spell quest to get a Minion Summon spell that you never use? Trained minions typically just get in the way. Their health is too low, their spells are too weak, pip cost is too high... That's where Monstrology comes in.
Ever wanted to summon a minion like Malistaire the Undying to your aid? Or Grandfather Spider? For two pips, you can - With their full health, damage stat, and spell repertoire included! And the best part of all: You can call these enforcers to your side while going for Solo Badges in Karamelle, and still get yourself the badge. They're also great for help in Solo Spell Quests, pet quests, and even if you just want help progressing through a world! |
Housing Guests:Now, for you decorators out there - Housing Guests are for you. Have you ever looked at a monster during battle - The beautiful parrots of Azteca, the Gummies of Karamelle, or even the horrific undead of Darkmoor - And wished you could put that creature in your home?
We can do just that for you! Housing Guests function like pets - They can be placed, made to walk around with bread crumbs, grown with castle magic, and even put through their battle animations! Any extractable creature can be turned into a Housing Guest and purchased through The Bazaar like any other housing item. |
Expel Creature Spells:One of the most powerful aspects of Monstrology are the Expel Treasure Cards. These are two pip spells to instantly defeat the creature they were created for. No matter the creature's cheats, their health, their school... Two pips is all it takes.
In the vast majority of cases, expels cannot be created for creatures with the Rank Title of Boss. However, powerful creatures that make fights more difficult - Pork and Beans from the Medulla Fight, the Dragonspyre Crusaders that fight alongside The Greggors, and even the Draconian Minions to Malistaire in Darkmoor can be expelled with these "insta-kill" spells. |
The Monstrodome:The final aspect of Monstrology is one of my personal favorites. By using Summon Treasure Cards, and a craftable housing item called the Monstrodome, you can create your own battles!
Every dome has four empty slots for Summon Cards. Any extractable creature can be placed in the dome, making for any number of devastating combinations! These duels are purely for fun with friends - They do not drop the items they normally would in their respective dungeons. They are, however, a great source of entertainment, fantastic challenges, and even gold farming! |
